Although the streetscape construction continues, the museum front door is again accessible as is parking.

Tuesday - Saturday  10am - 2 pm
Sunday 12 noon - 4 pm

Group  tours are available by appointment (we will add staff to accommodate the size of the group)

The Illinois Coal Museum at Gillespie is proud to award scholarships to two Gillespie High School graduates. The recipients will have demonstrated excellence in the Vocational Arts and have embodied the work ethic of our miners. 
Gillespie Middle School has added Gillespie and Coal Mining History to the Eighth Grade curriculum.
The school libraries as well as the Gillespie Public Library are provided Coal Mining and Coal Miner books.
