THE MISSION OF THE
ILLINOIS COAL MUSEUM AT GILLESPIE
IS TO COLLECT, PRESERVE, STUDY, EXHIBIT, AND STIMULATE APPRECIATION FOR AND ADVANCE KNOWLEDGE OF ROLE
OF COAL MINING IN ILLINOIS.
The museum is located at 121 S. Macoupin St. Gillespie, IL 62033 in a re-purposed bank building now owned by the City of Gillespie.  This 6,000 square foot, two story structure was, 100 years ago, five separate storefronts, each with an interesting history. The museum occupies the first  floor with the second floor being developed for future, yet to be identified projects.
We are a 501 c 3  corporation able to receive deductible donations and would greatly appreciate any help you may offer to assist us  in preserving the history of coal mining, the labor union struggles, and  the part Gillespie played.
